SHIPPENSBURG, PA- Shippensburg University welcomes the Holiday season on Wednesday evening as students, faculty, and trustees gathered for the annual tree-lighting ceremony. The long-standing tradition brought smiles, warm lights, and community spirit, making the event come alive on the chilly December day.
Hosted by President Charles Patterson, Colleen Patterson, and their dog Oliver, the event was an honor for them to share with valued attendees, especially with special appearances of Big Red and Shippo.
“It's something Colleen and I started when we first came to ship..” Patterson explained, “We wanna celebrate the holidays for everyone.”
Attendees enjoyed a warm, welcoming tour of the Martin House, with seasonal decor, followed by a family photo featuring students and all who have attended.
From the Martin House, everyone headed over to the old main fountain for the annual tree lighting, gathering around with warm hot chocolate in hand and watching the tree come to life as the sparkling lights appear.
Patterson wished all the scholars and students good luck during finals weeks and announced he and Lady Patterson will be hosting Pancakes with the Pattersons at Reisner Hall to enjoy a good study break.
