Family rescued from Harrisburg hostage situation

Police have revealed that a mother and two children were in the apartment at the time and all three were safely removed from the apartment. The suspect is still unnamed at this time and is currently being treated at a local hospital after being shot by an officer during the altercation. The suspect is a 28-year-old male.


5/30/2023 - 7:21 p.m.

Harrisburg police are clearing the scene of an hostage situation that occurred at an apartment in Manor Hall located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.


An unnamed suspect was noticed in the area. He was apparently dressed in all black attire including a face mask. The suspect also had a gun in his waistband. When stopped and questioned by police he drew his firearm and ran from the officers. The suspect then entered an apartment that did not belong to him.


Several individuals ran out of the apartment, however at least one child remained in the home. Police were in a standoff since 1 p.m. Around 5 p.m. the a SWAT team was seen throwing three flash bangs into the apartment.


A child was rescued from the apartment around 6:30 p.m. However, the name and condition of the child has not been disclosed by police at this time. No shots have been fired at this time either.
