Ship Adds New Bikes to the Bike Share Program

Updated: Feb 5

By: Carson Devitt SUTV News

The Ship Bike Share Program has a new makeover. On Oct. 11, the Ship Recreation brought out the new bikes for students to check out.

The Bike Share Program offers students the ability to check out a bike for up to three hours. To check out one of the new bikes, bring your Shippensburg University ID to the front desk inside the Rec. You will sign a form promising to return the bike within three hours and be given a key to unlock your bike.

Some common places students like to ride are the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail and the on-campus bike routes. The Rail Trail is a short ride from the Ship Rec and is just short of 13 miles. Some students have even taken the bikes downtown.

If you need to repair your personal bike, there are bike repair stations at the ShipRec, Student Rec Complex Hockey Rink, Naugle Hall, and Harley Hall. There are a limited number of bikes for rental, so availability cannot be guaranteed.
