Elton John has officially become an EGOT recipient after winning an Emmy award Monday night. The singer-songwriter now joins the ranks among the likes of Viola Davis and Alan Menken.

John took home his latest award for Best Variety Special (Live) at the 75th Emmy Awards for his "Farewell from Dodger's Stadium" special that aired on Disney+ earlier this year.

Elton John is a two-time Academy Award winner for "The Lion King" and the musical biopic "Rocketman". He is also a six-time Grammy Award winner and a Tony Award recipient for his score to the Broadway musical "Aida".

John is now the 19th person to ever win all four major awards. The last person to win an EGOT was Viola Davis in 2023 for her Grammy Award-winning audiobook "Finding Me".

Elton John has entertained listeners young and old since he debuted on the music scene back in 1969 with his debut album "Empty Sky" before hitting big with his self-titled album "Elton John" in 1970. "Farewell from Dodgers Stadium" chronicles his final concert performance in his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which ran from 2018 to 2021. The tour was delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

John retired from touring to spend more time with his husband David Furnish and their two children.
