King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer according to Buckingham Palace. The monarch is currently seeking treatment for the disease.

"During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer," an official statement from Buckingham Palace read. It continues, "His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual."

King Charles III took the throne in September 2022 after the death of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The King is expected to pause all scheduled public appearances for the time being, however he is expected to continue serving as the Head of State throughout the treatment process according to BBC. The official statement read, "He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible."
