The Shippensburg University softball team was in action this past weekend. They played two games on Sunday, one of them against Alderson Broaddus and the second one against West Virginia State.

During the game against Alderson Broaddus, the Raiders gave up seven runs in two innings, putting them in a tough spot. Shippensburg had ten hits on the day but left thirteen runners on base. The Raiders lost the game in the end 8-6.

During the game against West Virginia State, it was a different story. Sophomore Tressa Kagarise struck out seven batters and only allowed two runs. Junior Courtney Coy hit a two-run home run and with a combined team effort, the Raiders went on to beat WVS 5-3. Coy was 5-for-9 at the plate overall on the day. Senior Kayla Bonawitz had four hits throughout the day, including a double and a triple.

Shippensburg heads to Virginia State this weekend, where they will play four games in a span of two days.
